A countable valued lattice-ordered group (\(\ell \)-group) is an \(\ell \)-group in which every element has only countable many values. The authors of the paper study this generalization of the notion of a finite-valued \(\ell \)-group. They show, for example, that a countable valued \(\ell \)-group is completely distributive and normal-valued and that every element in a countable valued \(\ell \)-group has a special value (though such an \(\ell \)-group is not necessarily special-valued). Further, they prove that the class of countable valued \(\ell \)-groups forms a torsion class of \(\ell \)-groups and that the corresponding torsion radical is the intersection of all maximal countable valued \(\ell \)-subgroups. The paper contains many interesting and important examples.
