The paper contains several relevant results on the local vanishing of characteristic cohomology associated to a smooth manifold \(M\) [cf. \textit{R. L. Bryant} and \textit{P. A. Griffiths}, J. Am. Math. Soc. 8, No. 3, 507-596 (1995; Zbl 0845.58004)]. In the main theorem it is proved that for any open \({\mathcal U} \subseteq G_n^{(k)}(M)\), one has that \text{ \(p_{\ast}: H^q_{DR}({\mathcal U}) \rightarrow H^q(\Omega^{\ast}/{\mathcal I}^{\ast}({\mathcal U}),d)\) } is an isomorphism for \(0\leq q \leq n\) and is into for \(q=n\). This result is another approach to a theorem of R. L. Bryant and P. A. Griffiths. There are studied the cohomology groups and there is discussed a conjecture of Griffiths about equivariance representation. A partial answer is obtained through an examination of Lagrangian densities. The author uses computations on Koszul cohomology groups and Hopf algebra techniques. Among other results we mention the relation \(\text{ Tor}_i^{k[{\mathbf x}]}(M_odot_kN,k)_j \simeq_k \text{ Tor}_i^{k[{\mathbf x}]}(M,\widehat{N})_j\) for all \(i\), \(j\) and \(M\), \(N\) finitely generated \(k[{\mathbf x}]\)--modules.
