Recently, Wei Hu and Chang-Chang Xi proved a surprising result which says that an Auslander-Reiten sequence, and more generally a \(\mathcal{D}\)-split sequence, induces certain derived equivalences; see [\textit{W. Hu} and \textit{C.-C. Xi}, Adv. Math. 227, No. 1, 292--318 (2011; Zbl 1260.16017)]. As an application of this result, the author of this paper under review constructs certain derived equivalences between some matrix subrings. She derives some homological consequences of these derived equivalences, such that some results about the global dimensions and the finitistic dimensions, and thus verifies the finitistic dimension conjecture for a class of Harada algebras and a class of tiled triangular algebras.
