The authors present a theorem on the existence of T-periodic solutions for the second order vector functional-differential equation \(x''+(d/dt)(\text{grad} F(x))+g(t,Hx,Kx')=e(t)\) where H and K map continuously the space of continuous T-periodic maps \({\mathbb{R}}\to {\mathbb{R}}^ n\) into itself. This result is applied to prove the existence of T-periodic solutions to a differential delay equation of Liénard type (where \((Hx)(t)=x(t-r)\), \((Kx')(t)=x'(t-s))\), and to some Rayleigh- Liénard system of the form \[ x''+f(x)x'+g(t,y)=e(t),\quad - y''+u(y')+v(y)=w(t,x). \] The proof is based on degree theory.
