The paper discusses controllability properties of a controlled Euler- Bernoulli equation, i.e. given an open bounded domain D in an Euclidean space with smooth boundary B the nonhomogeneous equation for w(t,x) is given as \(w_{tt}+\Delta^ 2w=0\), \(w(0,\cdot)=w^ 0(\cdot)\), \(w_ t(0,\cdot)=w^ 1(\cdot)\), and the boundary conditions \(w=g_ 1\) and \(\Delta w=g_ 2\). The paper gives results on the exact controllability for these partial differential equations. That implies that given D (and B), initial data \(w^ 0(\cdot)\) and \(w^ 1(\cdot)\) in some appropriate function space, find control functions \(g_ 1\) and \(g_ 2\), belonging to a suitable function space, so that the corresponding solution w(t,x) satisfies for some T the zero condition \(w(T,\cdot)=w_ t(T,\cdot)=0\). Depending on the type of functions \(w^ 0(\cdot)\) and \(w^ 1(\cdot)\) resp. \(g_ 1\) and \(g_ 2\) two different results on the controllability of the Euler-Bernoulli equations are obtained.
