Let \(\mathcal C\) be a category of Lie algebras or Hopf algebras, let \(A\subset E\) be a subobject. Another subobject \(H\subset E\) is called complement of \(A\) if \(E\) can be written as a product of \(A\) and \(H\) and also \(A\) and \(H\) have minimal intersection. In the paper under review the problem of classification of all complements of a given subobject \(A\) is investigated. In the case of Hopf algebras the following answer is given. Fix a complement \(H\) of \(A\). Then every complement is isomorphic to a certain deformation \(H_r\) defined by a deformation map \(r\colon H\to A\). Also isomorphism classes of complements are described, they are classified by some cohomological object that is constructed explicitly. A similar result is obtained in the case of Lie algebras. It is proved that complements are classified by a cohomological object that is explicitly constructed.
