    [For part I see ibid. 56, No. 2/3, 229-245 (1989; Zbl 0649.65056).] The frequency decomposition multigrid method is a variant of the standard multigrid iteration using several coarse-grids to which different prolongations are associated. Since the ranges of the prolongations add up to the whole space, the coarse-grid correction (even without smoothing) can be regarded as a subspace iteration. Using the corresponding proof technique, one can prove that the convergence speed is independent not only of the grid size but also of the parameters of the class of problems.
