Let \(A, B\) be \(n\times n\) Hermitian matrices. The famous Golden-Thompson inequality \[ \text{tr}(e^{A+B})\leq \text{tr}(e^{A}e^{B}) \] was proved in 1965, is a non-commutative version of the scalar identity \(e^{a+b}=e^{a}e^{b}\). In this paper the authors prove that \[ \|(e^{pA}\sigma_{\nu}e^{pB})^{1/p}\|\leq \theta^{1/p}\|e^{A\nabla_{\nu}B}\|, ~ 0\leq\nu\leq1, p>1, \] when \(A, B\) are positive definite matrices, \(\sigma_{\nu}\) is a matrix mean between the weighted harmonic mean \(!_{v}\) and the weighted arithmetic mean \(\nabla_{\nu}\), introduced by Kubo and Ando in 1979/1980, \(\theta\) is a constant depending upon \(p\) and \(\nu\), \(\|\cdot\|\) is any unitarily invariant norm on the algebra \(M_{n}\) of \(n\times n\) matrices over the field of complex numbers. The Golden-Thompson trace inequality has been extended in several directions by a number of authors. The related inequalities like Ando-Hiai types inequalities have been discussed in this paper. In Section 3 several matirx inequalities have been proved involving matrix monotone functions, matrix means and unital positive linear maps.
