The classical Łojasiewicz inequality gives an upper bound for the distance of an arbitrary point in the real \(n\)-dimensional space to the set of zeros of a function. The inequality usually holds for compact sets and for analytic functions, but generally it is false for differentiable functions. Versions of the inequality for non-compact domains have been proved by \textit{L. Hörmander} [Ark. Mat. 3, 555--568 (1958; Zbl 0131.11903)], \textit{K. Kurdyka} and \textit{S. Spodzieja} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 142, No. 9, 3089--3102 (2014; Zbl 1305.32002)] etc. The authors of the paper under review give a new global version of the Łojasiewicz inequality, which offers an upper bound for the distance of a point to the set of zeros, or the set of critical points of a function.
