The authors consider the planar rational system \[ \dot x = -y + \frac{-my + A(x,y)}{(x^2+y^2)^2}, \qquad \dot y = x + \frac{mx + B(x,y)}{(x^2+y^2)^2}, \] where \(A(x,y)\) and \(B(x,y)\) are homogeneous polynomials of second degree, and find necessary and sufficient conditions for infinity to be a centre or an isochronous centre for this system. By a transformation, infinity is taken to the origin and therefore properties of the system can be studied by using the methods developed for finite singular points. The main results are based mostly on a computation technique. Using a computer algebra system, the authors compute the singular point values and the period constants at the origin for the transformed system and obtain necessary conditions of the problem. Finally, they prove that the conditions are sufficient.
