Spaces of functions related to the weight \(u(x)=x^{\gamma} e^{-x^{-\alpha}-x^{\beta}}\), \(\alpha > 0\), \(\beta > 1\), \(\gamma \geq 0\), \(x \in (0,+\infty)\), are introduced, i.e., functions defined on the real semiaxis which can grow exponentially both at \(0\) and at \(+\infty\) are considered. For these functions new moduli of smoothness and corresponding \(K\)-functionals are defined. The authors study the behavior of the best approximation in these function spaces. A Jackson-type theorem and a Salem-Stechkin-type inequality are obtained. Finally, the behavior of the derivatives of polynomials of the best approximation is investigated.
