Let \(H\) be a selfadjoint operator with eigenvalue \(\lambda\), embedded in the continuous spectrum of \(H\). Let \(P\) be the eigenprojector associated to \(\lambda\). Let \(A\) be a selfadjoint operator, satisfying a certain smoothness condition and Mourre's estimate in a neighbourhood of \(\lambda\). Then it is shown that \(\text{ran\,} P\subset\text{dom}(A^n)\), implying the boundedness of \(A^nP\). This has consequences for the notion of complex resonances and for a new formulation of Fermi's golden rule. An appendix explains the Helffer-Sjöstrand formula.
