The Klein-Gordon-Schrödinger equation describes the interaction between a neutron field and a meson in quantum field theory. The equation involves a complex function and a real valued function which both depend on \((x,t)\in \mathbb{R}\times\mathbb{R}_+\). A finite difference scheme is devised to solve this equation given boundary and initial conditions. It is shown that the scheme possesses two conservative quantities in analogy with the continuous equation. The scheme depends on a parameter \(\theta, 0\leq\theta\leq \frac12\) and is a generalization of a previous result [\textit{L. Zhang} and \textit{Q. Chang}, Numer. Math., Nanjing 22 (4), 362-370 (2000; Zbl 1011.65061)] which corresponds to \(\theta=\frac12\). The author proves that the scheme is convergent for \(0\leq\theta\leq \frac12\) and the convergence order of the difference solution is \(\mathcal{O}(h^2+\tau^2)\).
