Let \(G\) and \(H\) be finitely generated residually finite groups. Suppose that \(G\) is amenable and \(H\) has a nested sequence of finite index characteristic subgroups (a subgroup is called characteristic if it is invariant under all automorphisms of the parent group) with trivial intersection such that the corresponding quotients (with their word metrics induced by a finite generating set of \(H\)) are uniformly coarsely embeddable into a Hilbert space. Let \(\Gamma\) be a semidirect product of \(G\) and \(H\) (we mean \(1\to H\to \Gamma\to G\to 1\)). Then \(\Gamma\) also has a sequence of finite index subgroups with trivial intersection such that the corresponding quotients are uniformly coarsely embeddable into a Hilbert space. This provides a new class of examples of metric spaces with bounded geometry which coarsely embed into Hilbert space but do not have Yu's property A, generalizing the example of \textit{G. Arzhantseva, E. Guentner} and \textit{Ján Špakula} [Geom. Funct. Anal. 22, No. 1, 22--36 (2012; Zbl 1275.46013)]. Reviewer's remark: Reference [6] should be \textit{G. A. Margulis} [Probl. Peredachi Inf. 9, No. 4, 71--80 (1973; Zbl 0312.22011)].
