    If \((M,\omega)\) is a compact Hermitian manifold of complex dimension \(n\geq 2\) and \(\chi\) is a smooth real \((1,1)\)-form on \(M\), then \(\chi_u=\chi+\sqrt{-1}\,\partial\overline\partial u\) and \([\chi]=\{\chi_u;\;u\in C^2(M)\}\). If \(0\leq k\leq n\), \(\lambda=(\lambda_1,\cdots,\lambda_n)\in\mathbb R^n\), and \(S_k(\lambda)=\sum\limits_{1\leq i_1<\dots<i_k\leq n}\lambda_{i_1}\cdots\lambda_{i_k}\) is the \(k\)-th elementary symmetric polynomial, then the \(\alpha\)-positive cone \(\Gamma^\alpha\subset\mathbb R^n\) is defined as \(\Gamma^\alpha=\{\lambda;\;S_k(\lambda)>0\}\), \(k=1,\dots,\alpha\), and \(\Gamma^\alpha_\omega\) is the set of all the real \((1,1)\)-forms whose pointwise eigenvalue set with respect to \(\omega\) belongs to \(\Gamma^\alpha\). For a smooth positive real function \(f\) on \(M\), \(1\leq\beta<\alpha\leq n\), and \(\chi\in\Gamma^\alpha_\omega\), the equation \((*)\;\chi^\alpha_u\wedge\omega^{n-\alpha}=f\,\chi^\beta_u\wedge\omega^{n-\beta}\) with \(\chi_u\in\Gamma^\alpha_\omega\) is the complex \((\alpha,\beta)\)-quotient equation on \(M\). If \(\beta=0\), then \((*)\) becomes the complex \(\alpha\)-Hessian equation \(\chi^\alpha_u\wedge\omega^{n-\alpha}=f\omega^n\). In this paper, the author studies Hessian equations and complex quotient equations on closed Hermitian manifolds. It is shown that if \((M,\omega)\) is a closed Hermitian manifold of complex dimension \(n\geq 2\), \(\chi\) is a smooth real \((1,1)\)-form, and \(u\) is a smooth solution of \((*)\), then there is a uniform estimate for \(u\) depending only on \((M,\omega)\), \(\chi\) and \(f\). Also, the author proves that if \((M,\omega)\) is a closed Kähler manifold of complex dimension \(n\geq 2\) and \(\chi\) is a smooth real \((1,1)\)-form in \(\Gamma^\alpha_\omega\), then there exists a unique smooth real function \(u\) and a unique real number \(b\) such that \(\chi^\alpha_u\wedge\omega^{n-\alpha}=e^bf\omega^n\) with \(\chi_u\in\Gamma^\alpha_\omega\) and \(\sup\limits_Mu=0\).
