This paper focuses on the dependence of the round-off error with respect to a geometric scale factor in the solution of the system of equations obtained by boundary elements with logarithmic kernels. The round-off error is plotted against the scale factor for elastostatic problems over circular domains with constant boundary values. Emphasis is given to the results in the vicinity of the critical scale factor which is different from zero or infinity and in the performance of a round-off error reduction technique based on the elimination of the exceptional eigenfunctions from the numerical solution.
