The author considers partitions of the point set of the finite projective space \(\text{PG}(3,q^2)\) into lines and Baer subspaces (i.e.~copies of \(\text{PG}(3,q)\)). He constructs such a partition with \(q^3 + q^2 + q + 3\) lines and \((q-2)(q^2 +1)\) Baer subspaces. If \(q\) is odd, there also exists a partition into \(q^4 - q^3 -q^2 -q\) lines and \(q^2 +1\) Baer subspaces, and for even \(q\) there is a partition into \(q^2 +1\) lines and \(q^2(q-1)\) Baer subspaces. It seems to be an open problem to determine the types of the translation planes of order \(q^4\) defined by these partitions.
