The derivation of high-order explicit Runge-Kutta methods incorporating an interpolant for continuous output is exceedingly complicated. This paper discusses a technique used in carrying out such derivations. The central idea is to write down the order condition for the interpolated approximation for \(y(x_ 0+ hc)\) and to then write down repeated derivatives of these conditions at \(c=0\). Some methods, together with interpolators and error estimators are derived by this technique, with orders up to six.
