Previously introduced [see the authors, Biom. J. 27, 123-138 (1985; Zbl 0609.62100), and Commun. Stat., Theory Methods 13, 967-986 (1984; Zbl 0572.62049)] robust classification procedures are extended to the case of observations consisting of a couple of variables: a dichotomous random variable and a univariate or multivariate continuous random variable. Three examples illustrate the theoretic results of the paper.
