The article is devoted to the investigation of extended Faber operators acting on arbitrary functions continuous on the boundary of the unit disk \(\partial{\mathbb D}\) in the complex plane. The author defines this operator and investigate its boundedness. A criterion of the boundedness is expressed in terms of a special domain characteristic -- bounded boundary sectant variation. As in the case of the classical Faber operator, the extended Faber operator may be applied to the approximation in the uniform norm. The corresponding results are obtained in the article. The article contains a lot of interesting remarks. Some results obtained are compared with the situation for the classical Faber operator. An extended bibliography of the article reflects several results obtained in this area.
