The authors present an analysis for a family of numerical schemes that combine continuous finite elements in time with mixed finite element method in space for parabolic equations. Existence and uniqueness are proved for both semi-discrete in time and fully discrete problems. An optimal order in time and space is established by duality techniques. Some numerical examples are presented to support the theoretical results.
