The purpose is to analyze the problem of unsteady flow past a wall which starts impulsively to stretch from rest using both the series expansions and numerical solution methods to predict fluid velocity and skin friction coefficient. It is shown that the series solution in powers of an unsteadiness parameter converges for appreciable large times. On the other hand, from the direct numerical solution of the boundary layer equations it is found that the unsteady flow would approach the steady flow situation as \(t\to\infty\).
