For some special multiplier operator \(\mathcal T_t\), there is an integral representation \(\mathcal T_t f(x)=(f*K_t)(x)\), where \(K_t\) is the third Jacobi theta function [\textit{G. E. Andrews} et al., Special functions. Encyclopedia of Mathematics and Its Applications. 71. Cambridge: Cambridge University Press (1999; Zbl 0920.33001)]. The family of operators \(\{\mathcal T_t : t\geq0\}\) is called the theta semigroup. The properties of that semigroup are studied (the cases of one and many dimensions are considered separately). Moreover, the theta semigroup is extended to a class of periodic ultradistributions on the unit circle.
