The aim of this paper is to study, in the function field setting, an analogue of the Kronecker limit formulas of the non-holomorphic Eisenstein series at the archimedean place in the number field case. Let \(k\) be a global function field and let \(\infty\) be a fixed place of \(k\). Let \(\mathfrak{H}^r\) be the Drinfeld period domain of rank \(r\), which admits a ``Möbius'' left action of \(\mathrm{GL}_r(k_{\infty})\). Let \({\mathbb A}\) be the adele ring of \(k\) and write \(\mathfrak{H}_{\mathbb A}^r=\mathfrak{H}^r\times\mathrm{GL}_r({\mathbb A}^{\infty})\), where \({\mathbb A}^{\infty}\) denotes the finite adele ring of \(k\). The author introduces the ``non-holomorphic'' Eiseinstein series on \(\mathfrak{H}_{\mathbb A}^r\) given by \[ {\mathbb E}(z_{\mathbb A},s;\varphi^{\infty}) :=\sum_{0\neq x=(x_1,\ldots,x_r)\in k^r}\varphi^{\infty}(xg^{\infty})\frac{\mathrm{Im}(z_{\mathbb A})^s}{|x_1z_1+\cdots +x_{r-1}z_{r-1}+x_r|_{\infty}^{rs}}, \] where \(z_{\mathbb A}=((z_1,\ldots,z_{r-1}:1),g^{\infty})\in\mathfrak{H}_{\mathbb A}^r\) and \(\mathrm{Im}(z_{\mathbb A})\) is the ``total imaginary part'' of \(z_{\mathbb A}\) which is introduced in Section 2. The main result of the paper says that \({\mathbb E} (z_{\mathbb A},s;\varphi^{\infty})\) is an ``extension'' of the ``mirabolic'' Eiseinstein series on \(\mathrm{GL}_r({\mathbb A})\) associated to \(\varphi^{\infty}\) to \(\mathfrak{H}_{\mathbb A}^r\) through the building map and finds \(\frac{\partial}{\partial s} {\mathbb E}(z_{\mathbb A},s;\varphi^{\infty})\big|_{s=0}\). The period domain of Drinfeld, together with the building map to the Bruhat-Tits building, provide a perfect choice of the symmetric space for \(\mathrm{GL}_r\) over global function fields. With this framework over function fields it is possible to obtain the Kronecker terms as in the classical \(\mathrm{GL}_2\) case. In particular, Kronecker terms can be understood for \(r>2\) in the function field setting. In the number field case, it seems no ideal candidates of the symmetric space for \(\mathrm{GL}_r\) when \(r>2\). The main theorem is applied to derive an analogue of the Colmez formula for the stable ``Taguchi height'' of Drinfeld modules. This is the content of Section 5. For the proof, the author extends Hayes' CM theory of Drinfeld modules to the case of arbitrary genus. This is the content of ``Appendix A''. From the main result, it is possible to apply the Kronecker limit formula to special values of Rankin-Selberg \(L\)-functions and Godement-Jacquet \(L\)-functions over global function fields. This task is performed in Section 7.
