Estimates for the number of variables required to solve p-adic equations are obtained. In particular it is shown that \(v_ k\), the least number such that every form of degree k in more than \(v_ k\) variables has a zero, satisfies \(v_ k=o(e^{2^ k\cdot k!}).\)
