This paper deals with the problem of delay-dependent stability for neutral systems. By means of state matrix decomposition, an improved stability criterion is proposed in terms of LMI. Then, the result is extended to neutral systems with time-varying uncertainties. A comparison shows that the results have simpler forms and a better performance than the existing ones in the literature. Numerical examples are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods.
