Seeking a standing wave solution for a specific system of time-dependent nonlinear Schrödinger equations leads to solving a Hamiltonian elliptic system with a Hardy-type singular potential. Such an elliptic system is defined via an energy functional. The authors establish the existence of ground state solutions along with their qualitative properties. To overcome the technical difficulties induced by the singular potential, the authors follow a direct approach based on a non-Nehari manifold method developed in [\textit{P. Chen} et al., J. Geom. Anal. 32, No. 2, Paper No. 46, 39 p. (2022; Zbl 1484.35185)].
