This paper discusses the life and mathematical works of William Spence. In particular, the author looks at Spence's work on logarithmic transcendents and also gives some of the reaction from mathematicans, including Herschel. The author hopes that this paper will used to a wider application of Spence's achievements because Spence is not well-known.
