The paper under review deals with the rational solutions of the Diophantine system \[ x^2+y^2=p^2,\quad y^2+z^2=q^2, \quad x^2+y^2+ z^2=w^2. \] First, the authors reduce this problem to the study of the rational solutions of the equation \[ u^2=(s^2t^2+1) (s^2+t^2). \tag{*} \] Next, they construct a \(2:1\) correspondence from the set of rational points of the Kummer surface \[ \text{Kum}_1: \eta^2=\xi (\xi^2-1)\zeta (\zeta^2-1) \] to the set of nontrivial solutions of (*). Furthermore, they construct a \(2:1\) correspondence of the converse direction. On the other hand, they prove that the rational points of \(\text{Kum}_1\), are given by the triples \((X/N,Z/N, YW/N^3)\), where \((X,Y)\), \((Z,W)\) are nontrivial solutions of the equation \(y^2=x^3 -N^2x\). Finally, the authors discuss the Diophantine system \[ x^2+y^2=p^2, \quad y^2+z^2=q^2, \quad z^2+x^2=r^2. \]
