The author proves a discrete Calderón reproducing formula for spaces of homogeneous type, which extends classical results of Coifman-Rochberg and Ricci-Taibleson, and his own results on \(R^n\) ([Rev. Math. Iberoam. 10, No. 1, 51-91 (1994; Zbl 0797.42009), J. Geom. Anal. 7, No. 2, 259-284 (1997; Zbl 0915.42010)] where somewhat similar results are given for spaces of homogeneous type). His approach does not use the translation or dilation groups which makes the extension to spaces of homogeneous type possible. The results can also be expressed in terms of a frame decomposition with basis functions of the form \(D_k(y_{k,l}^{\nu},x)\) where \(D_k = S_k - S_{k-1} \), \(\{S_k\}\) is an approximation to the identity, and \(y_{k,l}^{\nu}\) are appropriately chosen points. In the classical results, the basis functions are derivatives of Gaussian kernels or Poisson kernels.
