The problem of completing a space is one of the classical extension problems in analysis and topology and is traditionally discussed in terms of Cauchy sequences. In the present paper, the author, avoiding explicit reference to Cauchy sequences, studies completeness using the notion of absolute closure in the context of separated quasi-pseudometric spaces and bitopological spaces. The study is thorough, contains examples, and the absolute closure defined in the paper is equivalent to the classical notion of completeness in the class of metric spaces.
