The problem of a molecular deformation in a polymeric solid is considered using the global balance principles and micromechanical considerations. A complete set of coupled governing balance equations and constitutive laws is given. An example of the initial-boundary value problem is presented to demonstrate that the qualitative features of diffusion behaviour are replicated.
