The author proves results on the blow-up behavior of solutions to the quintic supercritical focusing nonlinear Schrödinger equation in two space dimensions. It is shown that for specific initial data in an open subset of the first order Sobolev space the solutions blow up in finite time on a sphere with a blow-up rate given by a log-log law in time.
