The author proves that any integral functor \(\Phi_{\mathcal E}\colon D(C)\to D(C')\) between the bounded derived categories of coherent sheaves of two smooth projective curves \(C\) and \(C'\) induces an affine map between the rational Picard groups and then induces a morphism \(\phi\colon J(C)\to J(C')\) between the Jacobian varieties. The main result is that the map \(\phi\) is an isomorphism of abelian varieties which preserves the principal polarizations if and only if \(\Phi_{\mathcal E}\) is an equivalence of categories. This is a combination of the Torelli theorem and the fact that a curve is characterized by its derived category of coherent sheaves.
