The principal aim of the note is to give, under certain conditions, an equivalence theorem in 1D between the spectral difference method and the spectral volume method. The authors note however, that this equivalence doesn't hold anymore for 2D and 3D or if the solution approximation space is other then the space of piecewise continuous polynomials. Numerical experiments are carried out for the equation \[ \frac{\partial u}{\partial t}+\frac{\partial u}{\partial x} =0. \]
