Let G be a solvable group. The author denotes by \(r(G)\) (respectively \(\bar r(G)\)) the least \(r\in {\mathbb{N}}\cup \{\infty \}\) such that every (non-Abelian) finitely generated subgroup of G can be generated by r elements. \(\bar r(G)\) is called non-abelian rank of G, \(r(G)\) is the usual special rank of G. In the present paper the author proves that if G is a solvable group and \(\bar r(G)<\infty\) then \(r(G)<\infty\).
