Let \(\pi\) be a set of prime numbers and let \(\mathcal G\) be a finite \(\pi\)-separable group. It was \textit{I. M. Isaacs} [J. Algebra 86, 98-128 (1984; Zbl 0526.20006)], who defined the set \(I_{\pi'}({\mathcal G})\) of the so-called irreducible \(\pi'\)-partial characters. The elements of \(I_{\pi'}({\mathcal G})\) behave quite analogously to the irreducible Brauer characters. Let now \(N\) be a normal subgroup of \(\mathcal G\) and \(\theta\in I_{\pi'}(N)\). Define \(I_{\pi'}({\mathcal G}\mid\theta)=\{\varphi\in I_{\pi'}({\mathcal G})\mid\theta\) is a constituent of the restriction \(\varphi_N\) of \(\varphi\) to \(N\}\). In this paper, information is obtained about the vertices of the \(\pi'\)-partial characters in \(I_{\pi'}({\mathcal G}\mid\theta)\). It turns out that these vertices do possess some quite restrictive properties. The contents of Theorem 1 we omit here, and we mention only that by means of it an analogue to Fong's theorem on defect groups of covering blocks [Theorem 5.5.16 in \textit{H. Nagao} and \textit{Y. Tsushima}, ``Representations of finite groups'' (1989; Zbl 0673.20002)], for the vertices of the simple modules (in characteristic \(p\)) of a finite \(p\)-solvable group lying over a fixed simple module of a normal subgroup, is established here; see Theorem 2. The reader is kindly referred to this elucidating paper for the details.
