Necessary and sufficient conditions for the distribution \(F\) to belong to the domain of geometric partial attraction of a max-semistable law are obtained and the structure of these domains is investigated. A.s. limit theorems for maxima of sums of such random variables are proved. The Merge theorem is the key result for the investigation.
