The author studies associativity constraints, quantizations and braidings in the monoidal category of \(M\)-graded \(R\)-modules, where \(R\) is a commutative ring and \(M\) is a finite, commutative monoid. It is shown that associativity constraints for this category correspond to the 3-cocycles in \(M\) with coefficients in the group \(U(R)\) of invertible elements of \(R\). The natural isomorphisms from the tensor bifunctor to itself naturally acts on the set of associativity constraints, and it is shown that the orbit space is in 1-to-1 correspondence with the third cohomology group \(H^3(M,U(R))\). Similarly, the quantizations for the category of \(M\)-graded \(R\)-modules correspond to the 2-cocycles of \(M\) with coefficients in \(U(R)\), and the orbit space under actions of natural isomorphisms of the identity functor is in 1-to-1 correspondence with \(H^2(M,U(R))\). It is also shown that the braidings are represented by symmetric \(2\)-cochains of the monoid with coefficients in \(U(R)\) satisfying a certain condition. If \(G\) is a finite abelian group, the Fourier transform of \(M\) induces an isomorphism between the monoidal category of \(G\)-modules and the monoidal category of \(\widehat G\)-graded modules, where \(\widehat G\) is the dual group of \(G\). The author studies the associativity constraints, quantizations and braidings induced by this monoidal category isomorphism.
