In this note it is shown that if \(A\) is a linear compact ring under the discrete topology, then it is Henselian. As a corollary the author derives a result of Zelinsky which shows that under the assumptions on the ring made above, the mapping from the set of idempotents of \(A\) to those of the reduced ring \(A/{\mathfrak R}\) of \(A\) derived from the canonical homomorphism of \(A\) to \(A/{\mathfrak R}\), \({\mathfrak R}\) the radical of \(A\), is bijective.
