Let G be a bounded domain of \({\mathbb{R}}^ n\) with \(C^{\infty}\) boundary \(\Gamma\). Consider the spectral problem \[ A(x,D,\lambda)u(x)=0,\quad x\in G,\quad B^ j(x,D,\lambda)u(x)=0,\quad x\in \Gamma,\quad j=1,2,...,m, \] where A and \(B^ j\), \(j=1,2,...,m\), are linear differential operators with sufficiently smooth coefficients which depend polynomially on the complex spectral parameter \(\lambda\). Making use of a method of \textit{A. A. Shkalikov} [Tr. Semin. Im. I. G. Petrovskogo 9, 190- 229 (1983; Zbl 0553.34014)] the author constructs, under some additional assumptions on the operators A and \(B^ j\), a linear operator in a special Hilbert space which reflects the spectral properties of the above problem. Using this connection the author obtains results on the minimality and the completeness of the derived chains in the Keldysh sense.
