A partial \(t\)-spread \(S\) of an \(n\)-dimensional projective space PG\( (n,q)\) is a set of mutually disjoint \(t\)-spaces in PG\((n,q)\). A partial \(t\)-spread \(S\) is called maximal if no \(t\)-space can be added in order to obtain a larger partial \(t\)-spread. The author determines lower and upper bounds for the size of the smallest maximal partial \(t \)-spread in PG\((n,q)\).
