A sequence of positive Borel measures with infinite support on the unit circle which converges in the weak star topology to a measure with a finite number of mass points is given. Sequences of rational functions orthogonal with respect to the inner products determined by the measures are considered. The authors study the asymptotic behavior of the zeros of the orthogonal rational functions. They prove that a finite number of them, equal to the number of mass points of the limit measure, converge according to multiplicity to the mass points. The rest remain bounded in the complex plane. It is shown how these results may be applied in frequency analysis.
