Let \(\mu\) be a semifinite measure, \(\mathcal{M}\) the space of all real or complex-valued \(\mu\)-measurable functions, \(\tau_\mu\) the topology of convergence in measure, \(t_\mu\) the topology of convergence in measure on subsets of finite measure, \(a_n:(L^\infty,\tau_\mu)\rightarrow (M,t_\mu)\) a sequence of continuous linear maps, \(a^*(x):=\sup_n|a_n(x)|\), \(x\in L^\infty\), and \(X_1\) the unit ball of \(L^\infty\). The authors prove that \((1)\Rightarrow (2)\Rightarrow (3)\) with {\parindent6.5mm \begin{itemize}\item[(1)] \(a_n(x)\) converges a.e. for every \(x\in L^\infty\); \item[(2)] \(a^*:(L^\infty,\tau_\mu)\rightarrow (M,t_\mu)\) is continuous at \(0\) on \(X_1\); \item[(3)] \(\{x\in X_1:\; a_n(x)\;\text{ converges a.e.}\}\) is \(\tau_\mu\)-closed in \(X_1\). \end{itemize}} Moreover, if \(a_n(x)\) converges a.e for every \(x\) in a \(\tau_\mu\)-dense subset of \(X_1\), then conditions (1), (2), (3) are equivalent. This generalizes a result of \textit{A. Bellow} and \textit{R. L. Jones} [Adv. Math. 120, No.~1, 155--172 (1996; Zbl 0878.46020)] proved for a finite measure.
