After a short report of the transmission of Liouville's literary estate the author concentrates on the part of this estate which is in possession of great-great-grandson and is discovered 1984 in the attic of the Drouineau family's country house near Bordeaux. The papers of this part are mostly still unordered and contain lecture notes and project drafts from the student years, manuscripts for the first and later papers on mathematics and physics, mathematical notes and excerpts from books, letters from more than 100 different scientists (among them documents connected with editing of the papers of E. Galois and many of C. Fr. Sturm's manuscripts assumed to have been lost), private and political correspondence. Some details are given on the basis of the first sifting. A research project on this topic is funded by the Swiss Nationalfonds, a partial publication is planned.
