The paper studies the Grassmann structure of the critical XXZ spin chain in the limit to conformal field theory. Following a review of previous results already published by the authors, one introduces screening operators on the lattice, one investigates scaling limit, and then one considers conformal field theory (CFT) on a cylinder and collects a few properties which are relevant. A necessary brief review of the Bazhanov-Lukyanov-Zamolodchikov study of the integrable structure of the chiral CFT on a circle is provided, and then one deals with the conformal limit in the Matsubara direction. A new description of the Virasoro Verma modules is proposed.
