A few time ago the author obtained an expansion of the propagation of chaos for a Feynman-Kac particle system, and the purpose herein is to establish a similar expansion for a family of particle systems including the so-called Bird and Nanbu systems, which are used to approximate the solution of the mollified Boltzmann equation. One obtains a central-limit theorem for the empirical measure of the system under new assumptions which are less restrictive than the standard ones. This result applies to the trajectories of particles on an interval.
