This paper is in the wake of the work of \textit{J.-P. Kahane} [Ann. Sci. Math. Qué. 9, 105--150 (1985; Zbl 0596.60041)] where he introduced his theory of multifractal random measures referred to as Gaussian multiplicative chaos. Broadly speaking, the present paper shows that two different constructions of a same given type of measures are equivalent, and then uses this property to deduce several quantitative properties of the related random measure. The authors introduce the star-scale invariant kernels, then they define the Seneta-Heyde renormalization for star-scale invariant kernels, and eventually they provide another derivation of the KPZ formula at criticality.
