We are in the framework of a rigorous development for the quantum statistical mechanics of open systems, and more especially for repeated interaction (RI) systems. In the present paper, the author expands the mathematical analysis of a special class of RI systems which describe the one-atom maser experiment, and which he proposed previously in preceding articles. One studies the thermal relaxation of the system, and the relation of the velocity of the relaxation with the presence of infinitely many meta-stable states.
