For a given smooth bounded domain \(\Omega\subset\mathbb R^{n}\) (\(n\geq 3\)), the semilinear elliptic problem \[ -\Delta u=| u| ^{2^{*}-2-\varepsilon}u \quad\text{in }\Omega,\qquad u=0 \quad\text{on }\partial\Omega, \] is considered, when \(2^{*}=2n/(n-2)\) and \(\varepsilon>0\). A blow up analysis of low energy sign-changing solutions allows the authors to classify these solutions in terms of the concentration speeds of the positive and negative part. Further, symmetry or concentration results are obtained in the case when the domain \(\Omega\) is a ball.
